Challenge #99 - Anything Goes

Welcome back for another fun challenge this week!  We have so many exciting things happening on our blog and we're SO blessed to have you all being a part of what God is doing here.  We have filled our sponsorship calendar for 2014 - PRAISE GOD!  And just wait until you see the amazing list of sponsors we have for next year!  WOO HOO!!  God is SO GOOD, and you're going to want to play along every single week because our prizes are going to be AMAZING!  Well, let's rephrase that.....our prizes already ARE amazing.  They're just getting better and better!  Tell your friends, invite everyone, let's really try to grow our blog and to spread the GOOD NEWS of Jesus' great love for us.  What a blessing to have this fun challenge blog where we can share our art AND share the best news EVER.....Jesus LOVES YOU!

This week's scripture is Psalm 100:3 and comes from the Old Testament.  When we see the word LORD in the Bible (in all capital letters as it is in this verse), this refers to Yahweh God - the ONE TRUE GOD.  In the Old Testament, He is referred to as LORD (Yahweh God) and in the New Testament, He is referred to as Jesus Christ.  This verse was written by the Psalmist, David, to helped Israel (and ALL people) understand that "it is He that made us", and that "we are His people and the sheep of His pasture".  This helps us understand and relate these two facts - that He made us, and that He is our Shepherd.  How could anyone or anything else possibly lead (or shepherd) people better than their own Creator?  It's not possible.  No one else and nothing else can be better for us, or understand us more clearly, than the LORD - the One who created us.  He wants so desperately to be our Shepherd and to lead us in the ways that are right for us.  By clearly grasping the fact that the same awesome God who created us is the same One who wants to Shepherd our lives gives us SUCH a tremendous advantage.  By allowing Him to guide us and show us how to live, and where to go, and what to do, we can be certain that He will protect us, guide us, and show us the way that is right.  No shepherd would ever allow even ONE of his sheep to wander into danger.  Jesus Christ is the same way (if not even more so) because He created us and wants what is best for us.  Just allow Him to direct you and to really be the driving force that He longs to be in your life.  He will never steer you wrong.  Next time you're feeling alone, in danger, or like a lost sheep......just listen to the voice of your Great Shepherd, and He will  show you the way you should go.  What a blessing to know!
BIG NEWS:  We have started a Facebook Page for Word Art Wednesday.  If you're a Facebook user, we hope that you will join/become a Member of our Facebook Group; and as soon as we have 100 members, there will be a random drawing for an awesome die-cut.  We're already more than half way there!  Check out our Facebook Group for more details.

Challenge #98 - Anything Goes!

A woman's heart naturally desires security.  God created us with a desire to be sheltered, nurtured and protected.  In the beginning, in the Garden,  God hovered over His creation.  He breathed life into a lump of clay and called him Adam.   He then created Eve from the rib of man (Genesis 2:21-22), close to his heart and under the protection of his arm.  The blessing of woman's God-ordained position is to fall under the protection of  the one who shelters her heart.

As Adam and Eve dwelled in the Garden, the Most High God, the Almighty Creator sustained and nurtured them.  There was no danger in the Garden, no threat to the safety and security of Man and Woman; for both enjoyed a perfect dwelling.  All too quickly, perfection was tarnished and sin ripped the cover of safety from God's abiding place for His creation.  God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden and they were immediately surrounded by danger.  Suddenly, there were predator and prey, death and destruction. Man in his sin needed a refuge, a fortress.

Through a flood of time, we continue to be overwhelmed with the results of sin.  Never more than now, we need a stronghold in these times of trouble and travail.  Our God is our refuge....a never failing bulwark against the raging tides of evil in our world.  Through Christ, we find the only way to mend the tear that ripped us away from God's holy habitat.  When we repent of our sin, trust Christ as our deliverer, we step back into the garden of God's grace.

Our safest shelter is near to the heart of God, under His mighty arm.  Just as Eve was formed from the rib of Adam, we are created to abide under God's protection.  Are you weary and battle-worn?  Run to your Refuge.  Are you fearful, fraught with worry, faint or weak-hearted?  Find strength in the fortress of our God.  No problem, no circumstance, no loss, no pain is so deep or so high that God cannot cover you.  Dwell in the shelter of the cross....abide near to the heart of God, and He will securely keep you.  You can trust in your God!

Challenge #97 - Anything Goes

Welcome back to another fun challenge.  It's such a blessing having you all share your wonderful creations with us, and we look forward to seeing the wonderful projects you will link up this week.  Please remember that while we are an "Anything Goes" challenge, we do not promote having any dark images shared in our challenges.  With Halloween approaching, some of you are creating cards and projects that aren't quite appropriate for our challenges.  We realize that it's all in good fun, but rules are rules.  Please be very careful when deciding which projects to link up with us.  We don't want to have to delete any of your entries.

Our word art/scripture for this week is Colossians 4:6, and it tells us that our speech should be filled with God's grace every time we speak.  In early times, there were no refrigerators.  Salt was used as a preservative to slow down the spoiling process.  So, when this verse tells us to "season our speech with salt", it means that we should slow down our tongue (as salt slows down spoilage).  When we take the time to THINK about what we are saying before we say it, then our words are far less likely to be offensive.  When others speak to us, they will be able to see God is us through our words.  There is a saying that goes like this....."Use your time and your words carefully as neither can ever be taken back."  Take the time this week (especially when angry or upset) to let God "season your words", and choose them carefully.  We can hurt others by speaking too quickly,  and we can ruin our Christian witness.  Let's work on "seasoning our words with salt" and properly representing Jesus Christ to a lost world.

As always, you are welcome to save this week's free scripture/word art file to your computer, but are not required to use it in order to play along in our challenges.   We welcome you share your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family-friendly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment.
